Check-in times: The Departure Gate opens for check-in and boarding pass distribution one hour prior to departure. You can get a boarding pass only at the Departure Gate 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Passengers who do not obtain a boarding pass and are not present and available for boarding in the departure gate area at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled departure time may have their reserved space cancelled and will not be eligible for denied boarding compensation.
Change to passenger name or flight: changes can be made either online for some extra cost per person plus any difference in price for a new flight, or at the call center for extra cost per person plus any difference in price. For travel to the same destination, the reservation can be changed to standby travel for any flight to the destination leaving on that day for no extra cost. If the original flight was the last out of the airport, standby travel for the first of the next day's flights is allowed and if there is only one flight per day, standby on a flight on the preceding or following day is not allowed.
Baggage allowance: one bag and one personal item(like purses, briefcases, cameras, food containers or laptops) are allowed onboard the airplane. Carry-on bag dimensions limit to 10x16x24 inches. For each ticketed Customer 3 pieces of checked baggage are permitted. Maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) per checked piece of luggage. Overweight items from 51 to 70 pounds will be accepted for a charge of $25.00 per item. Items weighing from 71 to 100 pounds and oversized items in excess of 62 inches but not more than 80 inches (i.e., surfboards, bicycles, vaulting poles) will be accepted for a charge of $50.00 per item. Any item weighing more than 100 pounds must be shipped as Air Cargo. Excess baggage will be charged at the rate of $50.00 for the first (1st) through the ninth (9th) extra bag and $110.00 for each piece checked thereafter.
Senior fares: Travelers 65 years of age or over may get details on fares, limitations, and any restrictions via Reservations on southwest.com , from a Southwest Airlines Reservations Sales Agent or a travel agent. Fares are subject to change until tickets are purchased, but Senior Fare tickets are fully refundable.
Child fares: One child over 14 days and under two years of age, not occupying a seat, may be carried free with a Customer paying the applicable adult fare. Affordable Infant Fares are also available that enable a Customer to reserve a seat for an infant and use his/her FAA approved car seat. Infant Fares are not available for purchase on southwest.com . Please contact Reservations at 1-800-435-9792 for more information. Accompanied children ages two through 11 will be charged the applicable Child's Fare for the flight (does not apply to unaccompanied children ages five through 11).
Pet travel: live animals are not accepted in the aircraft cabin or cargo compartment other than fully trained assistance animals accompanying a person with a disability or being delivered to a person with a disability.
