Spanair S.A. is an airline based in Palma , Mallorca , Spain . It was established in December 1986 and began operations in March 1988. The airline was set up as a joint venture between SAS and Viajes Marsans, and began operations with European charters. Nowadays it provides a scheduled passenger network within Spain and Europe , with an extension to West Africa . Worldwide charters are also flown for tour companies. Its main base is Son Sant Joan Airport (PMI), with hubs at Barajas International Airport (MAD), Madrid and El Prat International Airport (BCN), Barcelona .
Check-in times The check-in deadline for all Spanair services departing from Spanish airports is: 30 minutes, if travelling Business Avant Class, and 60 minutes in Economy Class. Both Avant Class and Economy passengers may check-in with Easy Check-in machines up to 30 minutes prior to scheduled flight.
Change to passenger name or flight: changes can be made either online for some extra cost per person plus any difference in price for a new flight, or at the call center for extra cost per person plus any difference in price. For travel to the same destination, the reservation can be changed to standby travel for any flight to the destination leaving on that day for no extra cost. If the original flight was the last out of the airport, standby travel for the first of the next day's flights is allowed and if there is only one flight per day, standby on a flight on the preceding or following day is not allowed.

Baggage allowance: only one piece of hand luggage, which must not exceed 6 kg in weight and the following dimensions: 50 x 40 x 25 cm. (The sum of the three measurements must not exceed 115 cm.) is allowed per passenger free of charge. 30 kg (66 lbs) of checked luggage is allowed per passenger of Business Avant Class,20 kg (44 lbs) - Economy and 10 kg (22 lbs) – Infants of any class .Gold and Silver Spanair Plus Members have an additional allowance of 20 kg of checked baggage.

Pet travel: Spanair accepts the transport of cats and dogs ONLY, BOTH in cabin and hold (animals are obliged to travel in a special locked container for live animals, whose weight does not exceed 6 kg. or the following dimensions: 50 x 40 x 25 cm.). Any other animal not EXCLUSIVELY cat or dog, must be shipped as declared Merchandise, whereby should the passenger wish to send it via this procedure in Spanair planes, he/she must contact Lufthansa Cargo (the company commercializing our holds for declared merchandise) on + 34 900 303 020.

In-flight service: Meals and snacks are served, soft and alcoholic drinks are available for sale. Ñ omplementary entertainment is offered on all audio/visual-equipped flights.
