Air Canada , Canada's largest airline and flag carrier, the 12th largest airline in the world by fleet size, was founded in 1937. The airline provides scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo to over 160 destinations and vacation packages to over 90 destinations via Air Canada Vacations. The company also provides maintenance services, ground handling, a customer loyalty and rewards division (Aeroplan), regional airline services (under the name Air Canada Jazz), and training services to other airlines. Air Canada's main base is Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, however its largest hub is Toronto Pearson International Airport. Air Canada uses Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport as European hubs, Calgary International Airport as a hub for Western Canada, Vancouver International Airport as its hub for Pacific operations and Halifax International Airport as a focus city for Atlantic Canada
Check-in times: Check- in 60 min prior to the flight within Canada, 90 min to/from the USA, 120 min prior to International flights (including Mexico and the Caribbean), 180 min for flights from London Heathrow and from Tel Aviv, 150 min prior to the flights from Beijing and Shanghai and Paris, 210 min prior to the flights from Delhi. Boarding Gate Deadline is 20 min within Canada , and for flights to/from the USA , 30 min for International flights and London Heathrow, Beijing and Shanghai , Delhi , Tel Aviv, 40 min for Paris .
Change to passenger name or flight: changes can be made either online for some extra cost per person plus any difference in price for a new flight, or at the call center for extra cost per person plus any difference in price. For travel to the same destination, the reservation can be changed to standby travel for any flight to the destination leaving on that day for no extra cost. If the original flight was the last out of the airport, standby travel for the first of the next day's flights is allowed and if there is only one flight per day, standby on a flight on the preceding or following day is not allowed.
Baggage allowance: Items, which fall within the 2-piece carry-on allowance, include: carry-on bags or suitcases (wheels and handles included in the size), briefcases, laptop computers, diaper bags, camera cases, cartons or other similar items. Max size of standard article is 9" x 15.5" x 21.5" and personal article- 6" x 13" x 17" .Maximum weight of each article is 22lb.Items permitted but not considered part of the allowance include camera, coats, purses (10" x 12" x 8" or less), urns containing human remains, strollers, child restraint systems, canes, crutches, walkers, containers carrying life sustaining items and other similar items . The max number of checked bags per person is: 2(items) for Economy Service and Premium Economy Class – International/ 3 (items) for Executive Class and Executive First and 4 (items) for Air Canada Elite and Super Elite (in any class of service). The max weight per checked bag is: 50lb for Economy Service and Premium Economy Class – International/ 70lb for Executive Class
and Air Canada Elite . Maximum linear dimensions per checked bag is 62 inches. No bags exceeding 70lb in weight or 115in in linear dimensions will be accepted as checked baggage. If your baggage exceeds this free allowance (too many pieces, too big or too heavy), you will be charged an excess baggage fee.
Senior fares: Adults must be traveling on Air Canada 's purchased published fare.
Child fares: Infants under two may be held on an adult's lap free of charge.
Pet travel: Pets can be carried for a fee of $75 USD if traveling in the cabin or in large compartment and for a fee of $175 USD if traveling in large compartment for international flights. Pets cannot be accepted for travel either in the cabin or the baggage compartment in/out of Australia or New Zealand due to Government regulations. Pets can only travel via Cargo and all bookings must be made through Air Canada Cargo office. On flights within North America (Canada/USA and Mexico), small household pets are allowed to travel in the cabin with the customer in our Hospitality cabin only, provided they are in a kennel small enough to fit under the seat. The pet kennel is part of the carry-on baggage allowance and must conform to the carry-on size limitations of LxWxH - 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm maximum or 21 1/2 in x 15 1/2 in x 9 in maximum; and a weight limit of 22lbs / 10 Kg same as carry on; Reptiles (including snakes and lizards) and animals such as rats, mice, ferrets, weasels, etc. cannot be carried in the cabin; Birds are not allowed in the cabin; No pets are allowed in the Executive First/Executive Class cabin. Maximum of 2 checked kennels per person or family can be transported in the baggage compartment and the combined weight of the pet and kennel must be 70lbs or less .Note that if the combined weight of the pet and its kennel is over 70 lbs / 32 Kg, the pet can only be accepted for travel by Air Canada Cargo.
